Dhaka: A housewife hanged herself allegedly after stabbing her husband following a family feud at their residence in the city’s Jatrabari area on Friday.

The deceased Josna, 32, wife of Abu Sayeed Shawapan, was leaving with their two kids in a rented house in Golapbag area.

Quoting family members, Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station said the couple used to lock into family feuds over the husband’s extra marital affairs.

As usual, they again locked into an altercation on Thursday night. Later in the morning, Josna made her two kids unconscious feeding food laced with sleeping pills and stabbed her husband on throat and shoulder with sharp weapon, leaving him severely injured.

Later, the wife committed suicide by hanging herself with her saree in the room, said the OC.

Meanwhile, relatives of the victim broke open the door and found Josna’s body hanging from a ceiling fan.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy while the husband and two children were admitted there, the OC added.
