Dhaka: The wastes of sacrificial animals will be removed from the capital within 24 hours on the Eid day, said Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) panel mayor Md Jamal Mostofa.

The DNCC panel mayor said this while talking to reporters after a meeting with the Waste Management Committee members at Dhaka North Nagar Bhaban on Monday, reports the UNB.

‘We hope we will able to make the city clean within 24 hours on the Eid day’, he said.

Mostofa also called upon the city dwellers to slaughter their animals at 549 designated spots under DNCC.

At least 183 designated spots will have the facility of shade, he added.

The panel mayor said under DNCC at least 9500 cleaners, including 2700 city corporation’s own employees,will work for waste management.

Mostofa also said now they have capacity to remove 10000 tons of wastes in a day.

Moreover, the wastes of 10 sacrificial cattle markets under DNCC are being cleaned regularly, he said.

Councillors and higher officials were present at the programme.
