SC order on Fakhrul’s bail extension 22 February
Dhaka: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday fixed 22 February for passing order on the petitions filed by BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir seeking bail extension in three violence cases, reports UNB.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, fixed the date after hearing the petitions.
Advocate Joynal Abedin, Advocate Sagir Hossain Lion and Barrister Rafiqul Haque stood for the defence while Additional Attorney General Murad Reza appeared for the state.
On 7 January, the BNP leader filed the petitions with the SC seeking extension of the High Court order as the bail period will expire on 23 February.
Earlier on 24 November last year, the HC granted three months’ bail to Fakhrul in the cases filed with Palta Police Station.
The HC came up with the bail order after receiving a medical report of Fakhrul.
