Dhaka: The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Thursday submitted reports against two more alleged war criminals of the War of Liberation in 1971 in Mymensingh, reports BSS.

Briefing journalists at his Dhanmandi office the agency’s chief coordinator Muhammad Abdul Hannan Khan said they prepared a 300-page report containing the descriptions of allegations and evidence against Riaj Uddin Fakir and Waj Uddin.

He said 65-year old Fakir was in judicial custody since his arrest on 11 August, 2015 while the Waj Uddin was still on the run to evade the justice.

The agency, he said, suggested the prosecution agency of the special tribunal to drop the name of a partner of the duo, Amjad Hazi, as he died in custody after his arrest earlier.

Khan said they prepared the report accusing the two of five charges including murder, rape and genocide as it submitted the document to the prosecution team to initiate the trial process in ICT.

The agency launched the investigation against the suspects on 12 October, 2014 and concluded the process yesterday.

Khan said as part of the investigations they recorded testimonies of more than 60 people and named 36 of them as the prosecution witnesses.

The investigation was launched after one Khorshed Ali of village Valukjan under Phulbaria upazilla of Mymensingh lodged the case against the three for murdering his father Taleb Mandal in 1971.

The complainant described Amjad as the Razakar commander of Fulbaria, fugitive Waj Uddin as the Al-Badr commander of the neighbourhood and Fakir as their crony.

It is the 36th investigation report submitted by the ICT’s probe body.
