Palli Bidyut’s ‘negligence’ costs 4 lives in Cumilla
Cumilla: Four people, including three members of a family, died from electrocution as a snapped electric wire of Palli Bidyut Samity fell on a moving CNG- run auto-rickshaw at Bagmara in Nangalkot upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 60, Taher’s son Bayezid, 35, Taher’s daughter Fahima Akter, 18 and CNG auto-rickshaw driver Sarwar Hossain, son of Abdur Rahim of Shankarpur village in the upazila, reports the UNB.
Ashraful Islam, inspector (investigation) of Nangalkot Police Station, said the incident occurred around 12:30pm when the electric wire of Palli Bidyut Samity fell on the CNG run auto-rickshaw carrying six people, leaving four people dead on the spot.
Bayezid’s wife and son, who were also in the auto-rickshaw and sustained injuries, were taken to a local hospital.
