Dhaka: Awami League presidium member and health and family welfare minister, Mohammad Nasim, today said BNP is spreading falsehood worldwide to tarnish the image of country and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in many ways, reports BSS.

‘There was no controversy over the number of martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War, but BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and her party leaders are tarnishing country’s image deliberately spreading falsehood against the history of Independence,’ he told a memorial meeting of late city AL President M A Aziz here.

Bangabandhu Academy organized the meeting at Diploma Engineers Institution.

Nasim said Begum Zia is trying to create a chaotic situation in country’s political arena through delivering false, untrue and baseless speeches different times.

Referring to BNP leaders’ frequent remarks that the present government as ‘Illegal one’, he said, BNP is raising the question about the legality of the government, in the same time it participated in the polls of municipality, upazila parishad in line with party symbol -ship of paddy.

The minister said, ‘Khaleda Zia herself is responsible to weaken the BNP’s organizational ability. You, Begum Zia, have lost your quality to do politics indeed.’

Former AL leader Mozaffor Hossain Paltu, Harun Chowdhury of Samyabadi Dal and secretary general of Bangabandhu Academy Humayun Kabir Miji, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the health minister visited the ailing Golam Kibria, general secretary of Sirajganj district Awami League, at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the afternoon.
