Politicisation number one disease: Dr Kamal
Dhaka: Jatiya Oikya Prokriya convener Dr Kamal Hossain on Wednesday said ‘politicisation is now the number one disease’ in the country as people are being deprived of their due rights for the menace.
‘Politicisation is now the number one disease in the country. A political government should be there, but it can’t indulge in politicisation. Now people who belong to the party (ruling party) get everything and those who have no connection with it only play the role of silent spectators, and this is only because of politicisation,’ he said.
Apparently reacting to Prime Minister’s comment that they are making the national unity with corrupt people, Dr Kamal said he has no black money.
Oikya Prokriya arranged the programme titled ‘The necessity of a non-party election-time government’ at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
Dr Kamal said people are the real owner of the country. ‘But many people think those who have black money are the owner of it as black money is being used to take away the ownership from people.’
Despite repeated amendments to the Constitution, he said, the current charter still recognises people as the owners of the country.
Dr Kamal said a greater national is necessary to restore people’s ownership of the country, and ensure their rights.
He, however, said those who are against the unity have black money, muscle power and state machinery. ‘They’ll create obstacles to creating the unity. But we must forge the greater unity of people defying all odds and barriers.’
Mentioning that people want a qualitative change in the country, he urged all to implement the spirit of the Liberation War and dreams of freedom fighters.
He also said some departments of Dhaka University have around 30 professors. ‘It’s absurd and insanity. I want to know as to how a department can appoint 30-40 professors. Is the country run by crazy people?’
Dr Kamal said a representative parliament through a credible election is necessary to get rid of the country’s current situation and restore people’s ownership of the country.
He said the nomination seekers of the two major parties used to go to their top leaders to have their blessings by touching their feet. ‘This culture should be buried so that honest and competent people can contest the polls and become people’s true representatives.’
The Oikya Prokriya leader also said they are trying to forge the national unity to establish people’s voting rights not to engage in bargaining with any party to have many sets to contest the polls.
Speaking at the programme former caretaker government advisers barrister Moinul Hosein said though the current government came to power by stealing people’s votes, it is now calling other people thieves.
‘How they (govt) dare snatching people’s voting rights by talking about the Liberation War?’ he said.
Moinul Hosein also said a fair election cannot be held under those who assumed power by snatching people’s voting rights.’
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rob) president ASM Abdur Rob, Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Dhaka University Professor Dr CR Abrar, Gano Forum general secretary Mustafa Mohsin Montu and BNP vice chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo, among others, spoke at the programme.
