BNP seeks CJ’s order for ex-justice Shamsuddin Chy’s arrest
Dhaka: BNP on Saturday urged the Chief Justice to issue an order for the arrest of former Supreme Court Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury for concealing his dual citizenship while discharging his responsibility as a judge.
Speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi further said Shamsuddin as a judge worked for implementing the ‘evil plan’ of politicising the judiciary in favour of Awami League, reports UNB.
‘Justice Shamsuddin had dual citizenship. A person who has allegiance to another country cannot work for the welfare of country [Bangladesh]…how does a judge maintain dual citizenship? It’s completely immoral and offence in the eyes of law.’
The BNP leader said, ‘Such person can never ensure impartial trial. This former black sheep of the judiciary should be brought to justice for performing his duty as a judge hiding the matter of his dual citizenship. We appeal to the Chief Justice to take initiative to try Shamsuddin by issuing an order for his arrest.’
