RAB destroys contraband drugs worth Tk 181.48 crore

Chittagong: Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) destroyed huge quantities of contraband drugs worth about TK 181.48 crore at RAB-7 headquarters Saturday.

The damaged drugs included 45,29,200 pieces of contraband sex stimulating Yaba tablets, 4,319 bottles of Phensidyle, 152.7 kilograms of weed, 239 bottles foreign wine and 314 cans foreign beer, according to BSS report.

RAB source said, they recovered the contraband drugs in a series of drives from January o1 in 2015 to February 20, 2016 in abandoned condition from different places in the city and district.

Home Minister Ashaduzzaman Khan Kamal, City Mayor AZM Nasir Uddin, three lawmakers: Fazle Karim Chowdhury, MA Latif and Mostafizur Rahman, Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA), M A Salam, Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol, high officials of RAB-7, judicial magistrate, journalists and local people witnessed the destruction of drugs.
