Journalist injured in attack by miscreants in Pabna
Pabna: A journalist of a private television channel sustained injuries in an attack carried out by miscreants in front of Pabna Seba Hospital in the district town on Saturday night.
Injured Habibur Rahman Swapan, 65, is the district correspondent of Baishakhi Television and Bangla daily Dainik Sangbad and also the president of Pabna Reporters’ Unity, reports the UNB.
Gautam Kumar Biswas, additional superintendent of Pabna Police, said a gang of miscreants numbering three riding on a motorcycle obstructed Habibur while he was returning home from the press club in the night.
The miscreants beat him indiscreetly leaving him injured on the road.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed in and took him to a hospital in the town from where he was referred to a city hospital as his condition deteriorated further.
Police were conducting drives to arrest the criminals, said the additional superintend.
Meanwhile, Pabna Press Club President Professor Shibjit Nag and Secretary Akhu Nur Islam Remon condemned the attack and urged police to arrest the attackers immediately.
