Dhaka: A court here will hear on October 22 the charge-framing against six people in a case filed over the death of two college students in a road accident on Airport Road on July 29 that had sparked a widespread student protest demanding safe roads.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate KM Imrul Kayes set the date on Monday, reports the UNB.

Earlier on October 7, law enforcers pressed charges against the six accused in the case.

The accused are Shahadat Hossain, owner of ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ bus which is responsible for the accident, its driver Masum Billah, his assistant Enayet Hossain, owner of another ‘Jabal-e-Noor’ bus Jahangir Alam, its driver Zobair Sumon and his assistant Asad.

Of them, Asad and Jahangir Alam have been on the run.

On July 29, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, first year students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College, were killed as a bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road in the capital.

The accident triggered a widespread protest by students, demanding safe roads and seeking justice for their fellows.
