Chattogram: Railway police arrested the jailer of Chattogram District Jail reportedly along with Tk 44 lakh in cash, a cheque for Tk 1.30 crore, 2.50 crore FDR receipt and 12 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from a train at Bhairab Railway Station in Kishoreganj on Friday afternoon.

Md Sohel Rana Biswas was arrested from ‘Bijoy Express’ train in Bhairab upazila around 4:30pm while he was returning to his Kishoreganj house from Chattogram, said officer-in-charge of Bhairab Railway Police Station Abdul Majid, reports the UNB.

He said FDR receipt was in the name of the jailers’ wife.

Chattogram Senior Jail Super Prashanta Kumar Banik could not be contacted as he did not pick his mobile phone despite repeated attempts.
