Cox’s Bazar: Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Katabunia of Teknaf upazila early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Hasan Ali, 24, and Mohammad Kamal, 24, reports the UNB.

Hearing gunshots and exchange of fire in Jhau Bagan area, a patrol team of police rushed there, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang members opened fire to police, prompting them to fire back that triggered a gun battle.

After the brief gunfight, police recovered two bullet-hit bodies from the spot.

Three policemen sustained injuries during the gunfight, said the OC.

Police recovered six firearms and 25 round bullets from the spot.
