Dhaka: The senior leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront is going meet Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Monday afternoon for requesting him not to announce the next general election schedule on November 8.

The meeting will be held at Agargaon Election Commission (EC) Bhaban around 3 pm, said BNP vice chairman Barkatullah Bulu.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rob) president ASM Abur Rob will lead the Oikyafront delegation, he said, reports the UNB.

The other delegation members are BNP standing committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Barkatullah Bulu, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Gano Forum’s presidium member Mofizul Islam Khan Kamal.

Earlier on Saturday, Dr Kamal Hossain, on behalf of the Oikyafront, sent a letter to the CEC requesting him not to announce the next general election schedule until the ongoing dialogue is over.

However, the Election Commission on Sunday said it will announce the schedule for the next parliamentary election on November 8.

The decision came at a meeting of the Commission with the CEC in the chair.
