Rangpur: Two people were killed in a road accident on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in Taraganj upazila on Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased are Afshar Ali, 56, a resident of Ghonirampur Beltoli village in the upazila, and his brother-in-law (father-in-law of Afshar Ali’s son) Sirajul Islam, 38, hailing from Boro Vita village in Kishoreganj upazila in Nilphamari.

Taraganj Highway Police sub-inspector Abdus Sattar said the accident took place in Beltali Medical Bazar area at about 7:30pm when a Rangpur-bound minibus of ‘Sarkar Paribahan’ hit them while crossing the road, leaving them dead on the spot.

Outraged by the accident, locals blocked the road for half an hour.
