Verdict deferred on Khaleda Zia’s plea
Dhaka: Court rescheduled the date to 15 March for verdict delivery on a petition of terminating the proceedings of Barapukuria Coal Mine case filed against Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
A High Court bench comprising Justice Mohammad Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hassan issued the order on Sunday in response to a petition submitted by Khaleda Zia’s lawyers.
Earlier, the court fixed 10 March for announcing the order after hearing.
Six lawyers including Barrister Rafiq-Ul Haque , Barrister Mahbubuddin Khokon, Advocate Joynal Abedin were presented at the court on behalf of Khaleda Zia.
In 26 February 2008, then ACC assistant director Mohammad Shamsul Alam filed Barapukaria Coal Mine graft against 16 people including Khaleda Zia and her cabinet’s ministers with Shahbagh police.
