Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested six members of an alleged robber gang, including its ringleader, from the city’s Narinda area on Tuesday following a gunfight, reported UNB.

Two firearms, some ammunition and equipment used for committing robbery were also recovered.

The kingpin identified as Md Rubel, 25, sustained bullet injuries in the incident. The other gangsters are Md Alam, 50, Masta Munshi, 53, Wazed Hawladaer, 50, Kawser, 24, and Anik.

Sources at the Rab-2 battalion headquarters said a team of the battalion conducted a raid on a house at 54/2 Shah Saheb Lane of Narinda around 1:55pm following information that a gang of robbers was holding a secret meeting there to plan robbery.

Sensing the presence of the crime-buster force, the bandits opened fire on them, forcing the Rab team to retaliate by fire back.

After a brief exchange of firing, the law enforcers arrested six of the gangsters, including bullet-hit ringleader. Rubel was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested gangsters revealed that they gathered there to preparation for committing robbery in several areas.
