Tk 50 lakh compensation suit filed against Sylhet private hospital
Sylhet: A journalist here on Tuesday filed a Tk-50 lakh compensation suit against a private hospital allegedly for negligence in the treatment of his son which led to the amputation of one of his fingers, UNB reported.
Badrur Rahman Babar, staff cameraperson of the Sylhet officer of private TV channel Banglavision, filed the case against Sylhet Women’s Medical College Hospital with the court of Joint District Judge Rezaul Karim Chowdhury.
According to the case statement, Babar’s son Shafi received injuries to his index finger on January 18 last year.
Later, he was taken to Sylhet Women’s Medical College Hospital where duty doctors gave him primary treatment and sent him home asking to come three days later.
As the condition of Shafi’s finger was deteriorating after the primary treatment, his father again took him to the hospital two days later when duty doctors conducted dressing on the finger.
However, at one stage, gangrene developed on the injured spot and a doctor of Mediaid Diagnostic Centre suggested Shafi’s parents cut the finger in order to stop the spread of the gangrene to other parts of the body.
Following this, Shafi’s parents took him to Square Hospitals Ltd in the capital where the doctors suggested the same.
Later, they returned to Sylhet and admitted Shafi to Mount Adora Hospital.
On February 17 last, Shafi’s index finger was amputated through a surgery.
