Dhaka: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday alleged that BNP is trying to fish in troubled waters by jeopardising the country’s administrative system with its false campaign.

‘BNP is out to create an unusual situation in the country by breaking the administrative system with its attack on admiration and conducting fabricated story against it to catch fish in troubled water,’ he said, reports the UNB.

The AL leader came up with the allegation while speaking at a press conference at Awami League president’s Dhanmondi political office.

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, alleged that BNP is trying to have an excuse to stay away from the election by bringing various allegations.

‘They (BNP) know it very well they’ve no chance to win the upcoming election with people’s votes,’ he said.

Quader also feared whether ‘desperate’ BNP may stage any bad incident in the country like a reckless driver.

‘I would like to challenge Mirza Fakhrul Islam to come up with an example of their any good job with which they can go to people. But Awami League has those in plenty to go to people,’ the AL leader said.

Replying to a question, he said they have already finalised the list of Awami League’s candidates. ‘We’re going to make public the list of the candidates of the Grand Alliance tomorrow or day after tomorrow.’

About the use of EVMs in the election, he said they want the voting machines to be used on a limited scale in the polls.

He, however, said there is no similarity between the reality and the propaganda BNP and its alliance partners are carrying out over the EVM.
