Dhaka: Joint forces, including police, DB and Rab members, cordoned off a house in the city’s Banglamotor area on Wednesday following information that a man kept his two children confined into it.

Tipped off that two minor boys have been kept confined to a room on the first floor of a multi-storey building, a team of police cordoned off the building in the morning, said Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, reports the UNB.

‘However, police failed to get into the house as the man identified as Nuruzzaman Kajol equipped with sharp weapons was standing at the main door of the house keeping the door locked from inside barring police from entering it,’ he said.

Later, DB police and Rab members joined the police and tried to break open the door which was locked from inside.

Ujjal, brother of Nuruzzaman, said, ‘Nuruzzaman along with his two sons—Shafayet and Surayet---have long been living there. His wife left him as he is a drug addict.’

After peeping into the house through the window, Shahidul Islam, deputy director of Rab-2, said the body of a boy was laid on a table covered with a shroud. When he tries to interrogate Nuruzzaman, he replied, ‘He’ll bury his son after 1 pm at Azimpur graveyard. Who did call you? I don’t need anyone.’
