Baby thrown out of window by mother dies at DMCH

Dhaka: A newborn boy, who was thrown by his mother from a multi-storey building at Dhaka’s Bailey Road on February 1 out of fear of social stigma, died at Dhaka Medical Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday, reported UNB.
The baby, who was undergoing treatment at the Neonatal Ward died around 1:30pm, said in-charge of DMCH police camp Mozammel Hossain.
Beauty, 17, who had long been working as a housemaid at a flat of ‘Property Mansion’ on its fifth floor at 26 Bailey Road, gave birth to the baby out of wedlock on the morning of February 1.
Afraid of social stigma, Beauty dropped her
newborn love child through a window of the flat covering him in a plastic bag on the same day.
However, the infant found its safe place on the sunshade of a nearby tin-roofed building.
As the baby started screaming, locals rescued him in a pool of blood.
Being informed, police took the child to nearby Ad-din Women’s Medical College Hospital and later he was shifted to the DMCH.
The girl claimed she was impregnated by her brother-in-law when she visited his house in Comilla nine months back.
Beauty was kept at victim’s support centre in Tejgaon.
