Jhenidah: A housewife has been brutally tortured for about five-six days allegedly by her husband in Paglakanai area in Jhenaidah for protesting her husband’s second marriage.

Jhenaidah sadar police sub-inspector Sujan said Shahidul, a resident of the area, recently married another woman.

Shahidul’s first wife Nurun Nahar, 25, came to know about the second marriage later.

As his wife protested, Shahidul kept her confined in a room of their house for about five-six days and brutally tortured her.

Informed about the torture by the locals on Thursday, police rescued the victim and admitted her to Sadar Hospital.

However, it could not be confirmed whether the accused was detained or not.
