Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) asking him to submit an investigation report within three days over the recent attack on Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade.

The letter was sent to the IGP in the morning, said EC Joint Secretary Md Abul Kashem, reports the UNB.

On December 14, Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade came under attack allegedly by ruling party activists near the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial at Mirpur while returning after paying tributes to martyred intellectuals, leaving at least 10 people injured.

However, Dr Kamal managed to escape the attack unhurt.

Later, at a press conference, Dr Kamal described the attack as a serious act of disrespect to martyred intellectuals.

A case was filed in this regard with Darussalam Police Station on Saturday night.
