Writ seeks leaflet distribution on candidate’s affidavit info among voters

Dhaka: A writ has been filed with High Court seeking its directive to publish candidate’s affidavit information as printed leaflet and distribution of those among the voters of the constituencies concerned.
Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab filed the writ on Thursday on behalf of human rights organization Law and Life foundation, reports the UNB.
The writ said that voters should know the personal information of all candidates to select qualified candidates. RPO and Election Manual chapter VII mentioned these matters clearly. But the leaflets are not distributed. That’s why the writ has been filed seeking High Court directive in this regard.
The Election Commission and the EC secretary have been made respondents to the writ.
Lawyer of the petitioner said that the hearing is likely be held at High Court bench of Justice J B M Hassan on December 24.
