Dhaka: A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined a factory Tk 1 lakh for producing, storing and marketing fake painkiller ointment at Dhaka’s Jatrabari, reported UNB.

Officials of RAB-10 said a special team of their Dhalpur camp, led by ASP Md Sajjad Hossain along with executive magistrate Sarwar Alam conducted a drive at a factory of ‘MB Chemical Company Ltd’, in the area around 5:00pm.

During the drive the mobile court found that the factory used to produce, store and market fake painkilling ointments using the license of another organisation and without any approval from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

The executive magistrate of the mobile court fined the factory owner Babul Mollah, 38, and his manager Sabuj Shahriar Tk 1 lakh, in default, sentenced them to one month’s simple jail each.

BSTI field officer Sharif Hossain was also present in the drive.
