Jashore: A class X student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree after being failed to secure first position in the final examination at Ista village in Jhikargaccha upazila on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Rimon Reza Emon, 15, a class X student of Matikumra High School and son of Hasanuzzaman of the village, reports the UNB.

Mezbah Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Bakra Police, camp, said Emon was the first boy of his class and he maintained his first position from class I-IX.

Family sources said Emon got his final examination results in the afternoon and broke down in tears as he stood second in the examination.

Later, he went out of his house around 2:30 pm.  After sometime, he was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard, owned by one Lutfur Rahman.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue.

A case was filed with Jhikargaccha Police Station.
