Bhola: A group of miscreants allegedly abducted a cattle herder and looted some 200 buffaloes from hard-to-reach Neyamatpur Char in Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola early Friday.

A UNB report quoted Daulatkhan police officer-in-charge Enayet Hossain as saying that inhabitants of Neyamatpur and Madanpur chars had been at longstanding loggerheads over the lands of Neyamatpur Char.

As a sequel to the dispute, some miscreants of Madanpur Char, equipped with locally made sharp weapons, went to the area on a trawler and carried out an attack at Neyamatpur.

They beaten some of the cattle herders and looted their buffaloes.

The miscreants also picked up two of the cattle herders, named as Jasim Uddin and Jamir Ali, at gunpoint on their trawler.

However, Jasim managed to escape from the abductors by jumping into the water.

Later, local fishermen rescued him.

Police is trying to rescue the other abducted cattle herder and recover the looted buffaloes.
