Dhaka: Hundreds of readymade garment (RMG) workers in Ajampur and Jasimuddin road areas took position on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway calling for a raise in their wage and several other demands.

The agitated workers of several garments factories in Uttara and Abdullahpur areas put barricades on the busy highway around 9am, halting vehicular movement, witnesses said, reports the UNB.

The block on the movement of vehicles has led to heavy traffic congestion on both sides of the road.

Their demands include a raise in salary as well as clearing of other dues.

Meanwhile, police were trying to bring the situation under control till filling of this report around 1200 Hrs.
