Cox’s Bazar: Controversial ex-MP Abdur Rahman Bodi on Friday asked yaba traders at Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas to surrender within five days.

‘If the enlisted yaba traders do not surrender within five days, they will face terrible consequences,’ he said, reports the UNB.

Bodi, the twice-elected  while exchanging views with the locals at his residence in Lama Bazar in Teknaf upazila on Friday evening while his wife Shahin Akhter, who was elected MP from Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency on December 30 election was sitting beside him.

’Those who are involved in yaba trading must communicate with me and I will help them surrender,’ he said. ‘We, people of Teknaf, will prove that we are free from the deadly impact of yaba tablets’.

With Bodi sitting beside her, Shahin said ‘the yaba traders have to leave the country if they do not surrender.’

‘The war against drugs will continue,’ she added.

The ruling Awami League chose Bodi’s wife Shahin Akhter over him for the constituency considering the criticism for his alleged involvement in smuggling of the pills from Myanmar.
