Chandpur: Miscreants set fire to a pick-up van in Truckroad area in Chandpur town early Monday, the second day of another 72-hour spell of nationwide hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Witnesses said unidentified miscreants set fire to the vehicle around 2:00am.

Later, fire fighters doused the blaze.

Superintendent of Police of Chandpur Amir Jafar said eight BNP-Jamaat men were arrested from different parts of the district today for their attempt to carry out sabotage.
