2 Gonoforum MPs-elect likely to join parliament

Dhaka: Two elected Gonoforum lawmakers on Monday expressed their positive attitude towards taking oath and joining the parliament, reports the BSS.

“People elected me and I want join the parliament” Gonoforum lawmaker-elect Sultan Mohammad Mansur told this news agency.

“The people of my constituency elected me to do work for them. I want to go to the parliament as a representative and want to do something for betterment of common people,” he said.

“As per the rules, there is time to swear in. Now I’m sick. I’ll take oath after my recovery,” he added.

Another Gonoforum leader, Mokabbir Khan, said: “We are positive to take oath to fulfill the dream of common people. But, we didn’t take any decision yet. Sir (Dr Kamal Hossain) is now out of the country. Decision would be taken after his return”.

Gonoforum took part in the last general elections as a key component of major opposition coalition – Jatiya Oikyafront – which included BNP.

The party won two seats – Moulvibazar-2 and Sylhet-2 – while BNP six.
