Two new police stations, a municipality get nods

Dhaka: The National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (NICAR) on Monday approved separate proposals for upgrading to two police investigation centres into police stations— one in Narsingdi Sadar upazila and another in Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali.
The approval was given at a NICAR meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam said the NICAR has decided to upgrade Madhabdi Police Investigation Centre at Narsingdi Sader into a full-fledged police station.
The NICAR also took a decision to elevate Mohipur Police Investigation Centre (adjacent to Kuakata sea beach) at Kalapara of Patuakhali in a complete police station, he said.
The cabinet secretary said the meeting gave the formal approval to Alfadanga municipality in Faridpur. It may be mentioned that the municipality started its journey in 2014.
Ministers and secretaries concerned were present in the meeting.
