Dhaka: Bishwa Shahitya Kendra (BSK) in association with Bkash Limited, a mobile money transfer service provider, widens the ‘Nationwide Enrichment (Book Reading) Programme’ in Cox’s Bazar.

BSK starts the programme in seven new educational institutions, said a press release received by NTV Online in Dhaka on Monday.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Ali Hossain in a recent function at the Cox’s Bazar cultural centre auditorium inaugurated the programme. He handed over the books to the principals of seven education institutions.

The educational institutions are: Cox’s Bazar City College, Bangbandhu Mahila College, Islamia Balika Kamil Madrasa, Almachia Fazil Madrasha, Churtia Senior Alim Madrasha, Moheshkhali Degree College and Ramu Degree College.

Bkash’s Head of Corporate Affairs Saber Sharif and Bishwa Sahitya Kendra director Sharif Mohammad Masud were present at the programme.

Bkash has committed to provide around 35,000 books to Bishwa Shahitya Kendra in 2016 to facilitate the ‘Nationwide Enrichment (Book Reading) Programme for students.

Around 30,000 students from class VI to X of 400 schools are expected to read the books provided by Bkash this year.

Under the program, each student will get an opportunity to read 12 to 16 books round the year.  Bkash has been associated with the initiatives since 2014 and provided around 34,000 and 30,000 books in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
