Dhaka: Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin, former principal of Eden Mohila College, was found dead at her residence in the city’s Elephant Road area on Sunday.

Police recovered the body from her apartment at Sukanya Tower at night, said Deputy Commissioner (Ramna) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Maruf Hossain Sorder, reports the UNB.

He said there were three domestic helps at her home. ‘Two of them are now missing. It seemed from the injury marks on the body that the principal was strangulated to death by them.’

Victim’s husband Ismat Quadir Gama, who was outside, said he knocked the door after returning home and one of the domestic helps opened the door and told him that she was finding no one at the house.

After entering the house, he found his wife lying dead on the bed, Gama said, adding that domestic helps Joba Reshma, 30, and Swapna, 35, had been on the run after murder and cupboards were damaged.

They had been working at their house for the last one and a half months, he said.
