Panchagarh: A five-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two teenagers at Hakimpur Jendapara village in Debiganj Upazila on Sunday.

The victim is being treated at a local hospital, reports the UNB.

Police and family members said the child’s mother had gone to her father’s house, leaving her alone at home. Milon, 16, son of Hossain Ali, and Akash, 13, son of Momin of the locality, barged into the house and raped her.

They fled after the girl lost consciousness. When the mother returned, she found her child lying on the floor unconscious. After the child regained her senses, she told her mother what had happened and named her rapists.

The victim’s mother said they took her to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex after her condition deteriorated on early Monday.

Resident Medical Officer Dr Abu Sayem said they were treating the child. ‘We have sent her to Panchagarh Modern Hospital for medical tests,’ he said.

Debiganj Police Station’s in-charge Robiul Hasan said they had sent a team to investigate the incident. ‘No case has been filed yet,’ he said.
