Chhoton ‘confesses’ to killing two stepbrothers in Comilla
Comilla: Shafiul Alam Chhotan, arrested in connection with the killing of two minor siblings at Dhulipara village of Comilla’s Sadar South upazila, confessed to his crime before a court in the district on Tuesday.
Senior Judicial magistrate Saiful Islam recorded the statement of Chhoton under section 164 in the afternoon after inspector (investigation) of Sadar Dakkhin Model Police Station Mohammad Ayub produced him before the court.
In his confessional statement, Chhoton said he strangled his two stepbrothers—Joy and Moni—to death with a pillow as his father and stepmother used to misbehave with him and his sister since the second marriage of his father. He said he planned to kill his stepbrothers being outraged by their misbehaviour.
Later, the court sent him to jail.
Earlier, at a press briefing held at Comilla police super office, police super M Shah Abid Hoosain said a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested Chhoton from Malibagh area of the capital on Monday night by tracking his mobile phone.
On February 27, police recovered the bodies of Joy, 7, and his younger brother Moni, 5, sons of Abul Kalam, from their house at Dhulipara Sadar South upazila of the district.
Chhotan went into hiding after the incident.
The victims’ mother Rekha Akhter filed the case with Sadar South Police Station on the following night against her stepson Chhotan accusing him of the murders.
