War criminals’ children can’t vote, get jobs: minister

Kishoreganj: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Tuesday said the children of war criminals will not have voting rights and they would also not get jobs in Bangladesh, according to a BSS report.
‘Family members of the war criminals, who committed crimes against the humanity during the 1971 War of Liberation, can only stay here as citizens. But they will not have voting rights and will not get any job in the holy soil of Bangladesh,’ he said while inaugurating Khelaghar Jatiya Shishu Kishore Camp, 2016 at Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan Girls’ College at Bhairab, Kishoreganj.
The minister said the government is working to include new chapters in the textbooks so that the new generation will know the actual history of country’s Liberation War.
‘Simultaneously, the brutal and shameful misdeeds of the war criminals and Pakistani occupation forces will also be included in the textbooks,’ he added.
Central Committee Chairman of Khelaghar Prof Panna Quasar presided over the function. Among others, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj GSM Zaforullah, president of Sammilitto Sangskritik Jote Golam Quddus, eminent educationist Mohammad Sayedullah Mia and local political leaders were present.
