A schoolteacher was crushed under the wheels of a rashly-driven bus at Kamalapur in the city on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Josef Barman, 28, a resident of Panchagarh.

Josef was a teacher of Ganagatha English Medium School and used to live at a rented house at South Kamalapur.

Shajahanpur Police sub-inspector (SI) Praloy Kumar said the accident took place when a bus loaded with passengers crashed into Josef at about 7:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police seized the bus and arrested the helper while the driver managed to escape, the SI added.
