Chittagong: Three people, including a woman and her daughter, were killed and two motorcyclists injured in an accident at Thana Rastar Matha in Lohagora in Chittagong on Wednesday afternoon.

Two deceased are Ayesha Begum and her daughter Jerin Tasmin Joti.

Lohagora Police Station Officer-in-Charge M Kefayatullah said the accident took place as the driver of a Chittagong-bound bus lost control while trying to overtake a CNG-run auto‑rickshaw and hit three pedestrians at about 12:30pm, leaving three women dead on the spot.

However, the bus also hit a motorcycle, leaving its two riders seriously injured.

The injured were whisked off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
