Dhaka: Customs Intelligence on Wednesday seized 1,000 fake ATM cards at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka, reported BSS.

‘We seized 1,000 fake ATM cards from the airport today,’ director general (DG) Mainul Khan of customs intelligence told BSS.

The seized cards have been brought in five cartoons by DHL courier from Hong Kong, he also said. Filing of a case is underway to this end.

Police earlier arrested four people including a foreigner Piotr Mazurek and three employees of a local bank Moksed Ali Maksud, Rezaul Karim Shahin and Refat Ahmed Rony over ATM fraud.

The three are the employees of the City Bank’s IT division. Piotr, who belongs to a gang of international fraudsters, along with the locals had installed devices and video cameras at six booths of the UCB, Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) and City Bank to steal client information.
