Gazipur: Suspended mayor of Gazipur MA Mannan, who was arrested in an arson case last year, was released on bail from the prison cell of the Birdem Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Jail Super of Kashimpur Jail part-1 Shubrata Bala said MA Mannan was sent to the hospital from Kashimpur jail a month ago due to his illness.

Mannan, also the adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, was arrested from his Baridhara residence in the capital on February 11 last year in a case filed for hurling petrol bombs on a passenger bus in Gazipur.

Besides, some two dozens of cases were filed against the BNP leader.
