Case filed over Biman aircraft hijacking bid

Chattogram: A case was filed on Monday over the alleged attempt of a passenger to hijack a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft, reports the UNB.
Technology assistant of Shah Amanat International Airport Debbrata Sarker filed the case on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) with Patenga Police Station at night, said its officer-in-charge Utpal Barua.
Suspect Palash Ahmed and several other unnamed persons were made accused in the case filed under the Anti-terrorism Act and Aviation Security Anti-Crime Act, he said.
Foiling his alleged bid to hijack the Biman aircraft, members of joint forces killed a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Sunday evening.
The suspected hijacker, Mahadir, was overpowered and arrested during an eight-minute commando operation that began around 7:17pm. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect reportedly tried to hijack the Dubai-bound flight of the national flag carrier via Chattogram.
