Sirajganj: Local people in Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj have beaten up a man while he was trying to hurl a petrol bomb at the western side of Bangabandhu on Monday night.

The man who was caught by the local people is Afzal Hossain, a resident of Shaguna Natunpara village at Belkuchi upazila.

Sirajganj Sadar police sub-inspector Selim said three miscreants tried to hurl petrol bombs at a truck on Jhaul over bridge. The bomb fell into the road after hitting the truck.

Two of the miscreants managed to flee from the spot as local people chased them. The mob held Afzal and beaten him.

Later, patrol police held Afzal and jailed him.
