Subversive acts cost Railway Tk 1.05 cr
Dhaka: Bangladesh Railway has so far incurred a loss of Tk 1.05 crore due to hartal, blockade and subversive activities by the BNP-Jamaat-led 20-Party Alliance, said Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque.
Steps have been taken to resist any act of sabotage on railways deploying members of Ansar and VDP to guard the railway tracks, he said on Monday replying to a tabled scripted question from Nurunnabi Chowdhury (Bhola-3).
In reply to a starred question from Akhtar Jahan MP (Women Seat-5), the minister said the Railway’s net loss was Tk 926.10 crore in 2013-‘14 fiscal, while Tk 879.05 crore in 2012-’13 fiscal, Tk 1100.90 crore in 2011-’12, Tk 1007.89 crore in 2010-‘11 and Tk 800.82 crore in 2009-’10 fiscal.
