Nasrul for devising dev plans keeping alignment with environment

Dhaka: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Monday urged engineers to keep an alignment with the environment while preparing plans for development projects.
He made the call while addressing a seminar on ‘Engineers for Leadership in Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Bangladesh’ on the occasion of the 59th Convention of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) at the seminar hall of the organisation in the city, reports the UNB.
With IEB president Abdus Sabur in the chair, the function was also addressed by organisation’s honorary general secretary Md Monjur Morshed.
The state minister said the engineers have a pioneering role to play in implementing the government’s mega development plans that were presented by Awami League before the nation as it election pledges.
‘You have to give priority to time-befitting projects while choosing for implementation,’ he told the engineers.
Urging the engineers to be more cordial to implement the development projects, Nasrul Hamid said, ‘We have to take the lead to implement our own development projects.’
Appreciating the local engineers for their leading role in different development projects, he said the local professionals are now effectively doing their jobs with more responsibility. ‘In many projects, our local engineers are now working as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract firms. Day by day, they are showing improvement and efficiency.’
