HC seeks list of country’s ICU, CCU units
Dhaka: The High Court on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to submit a list of Intensive Care Unit(ICU) and Coronary Care Unit(CCU) of country’s government and private hospitals.
The HC also asked them to mention in the report the amount of money, the number of manpower and specialists required to establish an ICU and a CCU unit, reports the UNB.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Director General of Directorate General of Health Service have been asked to submit the report within April 24.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order after hearing on a progress report submitted by the Health Ministry following a writ in this regard.
Lawyer Dr. Bashir Ahmed stood for the petitioner and Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju for the state.
Earlier on February 19, The High Court directed for submitting a progress report on fixing fees of health tests at private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres and hanging the price lists publicly and establishing CCUs and ICUs at the district level within March 5.
On July 24 last year, the court directed the authorities concerned for fixing fees of medical tests at private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres and hanging the charge list in public and establishing CCUs and ICUs at the district level.
The court asked for taking the help of mobile court in this regard if necessary and forming a policy as per the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982 and form a body with specialists within 60 days for its implementation.
