Two held over Gazipur ATM booth robbery

Gazipur: Police arrested two suspected robbers in two separate drives in Kaliakair and Gazipur city in connection with the looting of Tk 1.84 crore from an ATM booth of Dutch-Bangla Bank in the upazila.

The arrested suspects were: Mintu and Naimul Mollah Lavlu.

Kaliakair police sub-inspector MA Mazid said based-on secrete information, police conducted two separate drives and arrested Mintu from Rakhaliachar in Kaliakair upazila and Lavlu from Board Bazar of Joydebpur in the city at about around 2:30am.

During the primary interrogation, both the arrestees admitted that they were involved in the incident, UNB reported the SI as saying.

Earlier on Thursday, miscreants snatched two trunks loaded with Tk 1.84 crore from the ATM booth of Dutch-Bangla Bank adjacent in Shafipur area of Kaliakoir upazila when some employees of ‘Money Plant’ company were unloading trunks from their microbus for reloading the booth with cash.

The looted trunks were found empty in Phulbaria upazila of Mymensingh in the evening.

Meanwhile, a case was filed in connection with the incident with Kaliakair police.
