Dhaka: President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the loss of lives and property in the devastating fire at Banani in the city.

In a condolence message, the head of the state conveyed sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.

President Hamid asked all concerned to stand by the injured persons and bereaved families of the deceased, the BSS reported.

The President also wished early recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the loss of lives and property in a devastating fire in Banani in the capital.

PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved families.

He said the premier wished early recovery of the injured and asked the authorities concerned to ensure their proper treatment.

‘Being informed about the blaze at the FR Tower in Banani, the prime minister immediately asked the armed forces and law enforcement agencies to work in coordination with fire services to extinguish fire and conduct rescue operation,’ the press secretary said.

Ihsanul Karim said the prime minister is always maintaining contact with the authorities concerned about the rescue drive and proper treatment of the injured.
