Smuggler Mong Mong held

Cox’z Bazar: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a Myanmar national carrying 9.5kg gold and Tk 42.58 lakh near Teknaf border on Saturday.
Tipped off that wanted Myanmar national Mong Mong Sen Rakhain was in his residence along the border area, a BGB team, led by Abu Zar Al Jahid and other officers of BGB Chitagong region, conducted the drive at the area at about 3:30am, said Major Russell Siddique of BGB battalion-2.
During the 15-hour drive, BGB members arrested Mong Mong Sen and recovered 9.5 kg gold, Tk 42.58 lakh and 50,000 Myanmar currency (kyat) from his possession, Major Russell said.
Mong Mong Sen was a wanted human trafficker and a listed Yaba trader on the lists prepared by Bangladesh Home Ministry in 2012.
On 13 December 2014, BGB had arrested Mong Mong carrying 10,000 pieces of Yaba and he suffered 10 months’ jail in this connection.
