‘Drug trader’ killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’

Gazipur: A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with detectives at Bhabanipur intersection in the city early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, reports the UNB.
Ruhul Amin, assistant commissioner of Gazipur Detective Branch, said that tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a drive.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, a group drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.
After the gunfight, the DB team rescued the bullet-hit body of a drug trader and took him to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police recovered a pistol, Yaba tablets and hemp from the spot.
